Koala Food Tree Plantation project

Holy Family primary students planted the tree seedlings in the school wetland adjacent to the school oval. Wire netting and wooden stake guards were erected by the students around the seedlings to protect them from attacks by wallabies and hares. Year 5 classroom lessons explained why the species planted were selected and the importance of increasing koala habitat to ensure the long-term survival of koala colonies in their district. The life cycle of the koala was also outlined in classroom lessons.
